Day Centre Celebrates 21 Years of Fun and Friendship.

age concearnThe Age Concern day centre at the St Leonards and St Ives Village Hall recently celebrated 21 years with a lunch and entertainment. Jim Layzell played favourite tunes on his electronic organ whilst members, volunteers and friends enjoyed a roast dinner followed by trifle.

Special guests included Barbara Manuel, chairman of East Dorset District Council, Jenny House, Chairman of St Leonards and St Ives Parish Council and Barbara Pitchers, past co-ordinator of the centre who moved to Berkshire around 18 months ago but still keeps in contact with the volunteers and members.

A beautifully decorated cake made by Evelyn Stone was cut by 98-year-old Kath Brundel who has been a member at the centre for 18 years.

The Age Concern Day Centre is held every Monday at the St Leonards and St Ives Village Hall. The centre, which is staffed entirely by volunteers, aims to give up to 30 local elderly people the opportunity of a day out.
